Stress is the “wear and tear” our minds and bodies experience as we adjust to our constantly changing environment. It impacts our emotional and physical well-being while potentially leading to health problems such as heart disease, stroke, headaches, digestive disorders and even insomnia. Stress is a normal part of our lives and our stress response is an important mechanism for human survival. However, it is the chronic, accumulated stress that has become a major cause of an individual’s inability to be happy and thrive. Stress reduction activities will help retrain the body and mind to contend with the untoward results of toxic stress. It has been found that many minor and more serious health issues are related to unrelieved stress. Guide to Managing Stress – Change your Thoughts, Change Your Life
In the morning look in the mirror and Say “Yes” to You
Be mindful of the words you speak, negative words and thoughts result in negative feelings in the body. Notice how your body and mind responds to certain events, the impact of experiencing love and joy in your body is very different from the impact of experiencing anger, frustration and resentment. Remember: In every situation, you are in control of your thoughts. That is your power. Choose what makes you feel joy.
As you start your day, Say “Yes” to You
Practice positive thinking. Look for the positive in situations. The one thing you can change, is your mind. Maintain a positive attitude and perspective about yourself and others. The “Glass” will always be either half full or half empty.
At lunchtime, Say “Yes” to You
Energy is everything and we are energetic beings. Be mindful of what people or situations shift your energy positively or negatively.
Make time to BE Still. We often spend more time “Doing” than “Being”. (Hint: We are Human Beings)
At dinnertime Say “Yes” to You
Practice slow, deep breathing to improve your heart rate and use relaxation techniques to reduce muscle tension.
Throughout the day say “Yes” to You by taking better care of your health – physically and emotionally, eating well-balanced, nutritional meals, exercising and maintaining optimal weight, getting enough sleep to recharge your battery, loving your work or finding a job that you enjoy.
Things in our lives will not always be perfect, and yet they can still be perfectly amazing!
Above all else, Say “Yes!” to You!
